Hi guys,

I started out with Thaumcraft about 2 days ago and I've just got to the point where I'm wanting to make my first wand focus (lets be honest it's a pretty cool part of the mod).

I've researched the Frost wand focus in the Thaumonomicon, and I've put the four water crystals, four nether quartzes, and diamond together on an arcane worktable in the way both the book and the wiki has told me to do. I've added my wand (gold capped greatwood) which is full and has more than enough for the vis requirements.

Yet for some reason it doesn't seem to register that I've done it, even before I put the wand in the flashing vis requirements don't show up.

I can't try any other focuses at the moment as I don't have any silverwood/the research points to buy others.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks guys!

If you've researched the Frost focus, you've certainly researched the fire focus.  Try making one of those. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 00:06, June 25, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks - I couldn't make the fire as I don't have the blaze powder (scary nether mobs!) but I managed to make excavation and shock eventually. Then when I tried frost again it worked! I don't know what the problem was but it seems to have fixed itself now :)
